The short answer
Most THC carts sold in US dispensaries use a 510 thread. A 510 battery with adjustable voltage from 2.0V to 4.0V covers most carts on the shelf. Fixed-output stick batteries at 3.7V work, but they run hot for live resin and rosin.
Thread and connection types
Thread is the mechanical fit. It does not set voltage.
- 510 thread: 7mm diameter, 0.5mm pitch. This is the standard for glass and plastic carts.
- Pod systems: Pax Era, Stiiizy, and Dart use sealed pods. The battery only fits that brand.
- eGo and 510-EGO: older pen bodies with a wider collar. A 510 cart fits, but the collar can block airflow.
Check the cart base before you buy a battery. A 510 cart will not thread into a pod device.

Voltage settings by cart type
- Live resin, rosin, and cured resin: 2.0V to 2.8V. Low heat keeps terpenes intact and limits burnt taste.
- Distillate with added terpenes: 2.8V to 3.4V.
- Thick distillate, high-viscosity oil: 3.3V to 3.8V.
- Ceramic coil carts: 2.5V to 3.5V. Ceramic handles heat better than cotton wicks.
Start at the low end. Raise voltage in 0.1V steps if draws feel weak. Above 4.0V, most oils scorch.
Battery specs that matter
- Voltage range. Look for 2.0V to 4.0V with 0.1V steps.
- Resistance support. Most 510 carts run 1.2 to 2.0 ohms. A battery rated down to 1.0 ohm fires all of them.
- Capacity. 350mAh to 650mAh lasts a day for light use. 650mAh and up suits heavy use.
- Charge port. USB-C charges faster than micro-USB. Passthrough charging lets you vape while plugged in.
- Activation. Button batteries give manual control. Draw-activated batteries turn on when you inhale.
- Airflow. Four intake holes reduce clogging on wide carts.
What not to use
A nicotine box mod set to 30W or 50W will burn a THC cart on the first pull. Wattage output and voltage output are different settings. Check for a voltage mode with a 2V floor, or skip the mod.
Do not use a battery with a cracked case or a swollen cell. Replace it.
Health and legal notes
CDC testing tied vitamin E acetate to the 2019 EVALI lung injury outbreak. Vitamin E acetate was used as a thickener in unregulated carts. Legal dispensary carts do not list it as an ingredient.
THC vape products are legal for adults 21 and over in states with recreational programs. Federal law does not permit interstate sale.

- Does the package list a resistance range?
